Hell no, I won’t go
I packed my bag and headed off to the airport with my driver yesterday. Halfway there I told my driver I didn’t feel like getting on a plane and that a weekend break would be nice as I headed into the final stretch of level 4 and the pending pressure cooker of level 5. We arrived at the airport, exchanged pleasantries and I opened the door to exit when all of the sudden my blackberry buzzes. On a whim, I decide to check it before getting out of the car. It was Craig Cackowski, my SC teacher, with the following blurb from the City of LA website:

Friday I was off to Santa Fe with my friend Dave to be ushers in our good friend’s John’s wedding. We flew on passes from Southwest so we had to stop briefly in Albuquerque thanks to the Wright Amendment. I must add a hello to Jen and Christina who sat next to me on the flight out. Jen works for Guitar Center and won an employee contest for a trip to LA to see the Black Crowes.
So Dave and I land in Albuquerque, grab a rental car and head out on the 60 mile drive north to Santa Fe. The whole drive we discussed how so many people commented to us that Santa Fe was such a gorgeous place and tourist destination. We arrived at 5:30 and checked in to our “hotel”, where we were greeted by a lady with glitter on her neck and chest, what could have been tatooed eyebrows and wearing a boa. When we got to our room in the motor lodge, we found a bullethole in bathroom window. A bullethole from what we could tell by the cracks, had been fired into the bathroom. We were due to leave for the rehearsal dinner at 6:15 in what turned out to be Jason Voorhies country. Great dinner, lovely facility, but it was waaaaaay out there.

This week’s trip was a one day turnaround so I got spend some time Saturday afternoon running errands and having lunch with my driver. We had some time between our errands and that night’s Desperados game so I did the most productive thing - I played Guitar Hero for 2 hours.
We’re huge arena football fans and have Desperados season tickets for the last 2 seasons. So when I saw the Saturday game on the calendar, I knew I would have to take the Sunday only trip, but it was wroth it as the Desperados won a high scoring affair, 80-79 when Colston Weatherington sacked the New Orleans QB on 2 point conversion attempt on the last play of the game. The Desperados are a record tying 13-1 with lowly New York coming to town next week. Unfortunately, I will be out of town for my friend John’s wedding and will miss the game. Fortunately for me, the wedding is in beautiful Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Be warned, this is going to be a long one. This is the longest travelogue yet. Longest to write, longest time to write (a span of a couple days) and longest in length. So grab the beverage of your choice or maybe even bring a light snack if you’re a slow reader.
The weekend started on Friday night when we went to see “Knocked Up” with our friends Ben and Beth. What a hysterical movie. From the guys that brought you “The 40 Year Old Virgin”, this was funny, and you’ll quote lines from it forever. While sometimes sophomoric and silly, the movie was real and you wanted to care about the characters. Watching the movie made me thing the only thing worse would be twins, I guess.
