Here I go again

Instead of writing about my trip a day or several after it happens, I’m going to try something new and document it through pictures (via Flickr).

At some point I’ll fill in the gaping hole from my last post in January 2008, but for now, pretty pictures.

The Holiday Q&A – Answered

It’s a couple of minutes into Christmas and I wanted to say Merry Christmas and a belated Happy Hanukkah to everyone. With all that has happened this year, I figured I’d open the site up to your questions for a holiday Q&A and we’d all get caught up. It’s been a while since the first Q&A and the same rules apply as last time – there are none. You can ask me anything you want, just post it as a comment, email or text it to me, or fill out the contact form here on the site. Just after the first of the year, I’ll answer all of them with the same honesty and detail that I have put into all my other posts.I wish you all a very happy, healthy and safe holiday season. I hope 2007 was good to you and that 2008 is even better.

(1/20/08) Thank you to everyone that sent in questions and comments. Without further ado…

Q: So, now what?

A: LOL. Kudos to the handful of you that sent this one in almost immediately. It’s great question and deserves an entire post dedicated to it and that will come shortly.

Q: Where can I see some of your work? Is there any actual record of you doing all this or is it just a big charade?

A: As a matter of fact, I have posted 3 sketches and 2 improvised pieces from the level 5 show to the media section

I’m headed underground

I have been extremely busy lately and I need a break. I had over a dozen auditions the last 3 weeks and 3 bookings last week. I have decided to take advantage of the holiday weekend and stay close to home and recharge. I’ll be out of touch for a couple days catching up on some movies and hanging out with Melinda and the pups.

THE DALLAS MAVERICKS ARE THE BIGGEST CHOKE IN SPORTS HISTORY

What better way to follow up the biggest choke in NBA Finals history than with the biggest choke in sports history. Avery Johnson has said all year long “the regular season doesn’t count” and the Mavericks have definitely proved it in this series. The Warriors outplayed them all year and Nellie has outcoached him. I quit watching the game tonight about 2/3 of the way through the 3rd and the Mavs down 20. A 67 win season and the soon-to-be MVP both disappeared in 6 games.

They’re a joke.

They’re an embarrassment.

And It’s going to take a lot to win me back next season.

Go Spurs Go.

The off-week Q & A

With no trip to LA this weekend, I decided to answer some of the questions I regularly get asked from friends, emails and comments I’ve received here on the site. So, in no particular order, here are the most common questions I get asked, or have been asked by email/website/carrier pigeon/smoke signal:

Q: You fly to LA every weekend? Why?
A: Yes, I do. I am in the Second City Improv Conservatory Program (Level 3) and my class is on Sundays from noon to 3:00. Yes, I fly 6 hours round-trip for a 3 hour class. I leave Saturdays at 5:00 pm and return Sundays either stand by on the 5:10 pm or take my scheduled 5:55 pm flight, depending on how traffic treats me getting to the airport (discussed below).

Fire away…

For week 15′s entry (10 days from now), I’m going to post some of the questions I get asked a lot about traveling to LA and doing the Second City thing along with my answers. I’m also going to open up the comments section for people to post questions or you can email me or use the contact form.

The Space/Time Continuum

Sunday in L.A. I had a friend ask me with my travel and the time change over the weekend, could I be stuck somewhere in time. I laughed it off and wondered if he misplaced his helmet, but then I actually thought about it today.

If I lose 2 hours going to L.A., then “fall back” another hour Saturday night, only to gain 2 hours flying back to Dallas Sunday night, am I one hour behind everyone else here in Dallas? Is my body now on Mountain time instead of Central? Does that mean I’m really one hour ahead of everyone else in L.A.? Where did that hour go? Am I trapped “Somewhere in Time” just like Christopher Reeve?

The irony of this is going to come Sunday when I miss my 4:40 pm Southwest flight out of LAX. Then it has gone from being a funny anecdote to just sad, sad irony.

I’ll take Potpurri for $200, Alex

A brief update covering the weekend’s activites:

- Melinda and I went to the State Fair of Texas on Friday and enjoyed the sights and great weather. We did enjoy the required Fletcher’s corny dogs, but missed out on sampling any of this year’s fried delicacies. However, I was tempted to try the Fried PBJ & Banana…

- While at the Fair, I spotted this. Does anyone see any glaring issues that might have been missed during the proofing process? And where does the other gate lead to? Am I the only one puzzled by all of this?

I’m such a lemming

(08.25.06) I’m rolling zero six friends deep right now. Uh huh, yeah.
(09.2.06) Thankfully, I’ve passed the 25 mark. This ends my running tally.
